Hiking in the Peninsula of Trolls and the edge of the Arctic
Location: Northern Iceland, Troll Peninsula.Date: On request. Five days and four nights.

Description: Welcome to the Troll Peninsula, North Island. This area stands out with its majestic alpine-like mountain ranges.
Join us for trekking in a pictursque landscape, visit to fishing villages, insight to the traditional way of living, local culture and listen to many
legends and powerful stories.
In this area fishing and agriculture are the main source of income. Hvowever, responsible tourism initiative is on the
agenda and will contribute as an extra source of income in an area where depopulation is a problem due to lack of job oportunities.
During the trip you will learn from your hosts, Sibbe and Trausti, about their pilot project for a sustainable community in Fljót area.
You will have the opportunity to contribute with suggestions and input. Last but not least you will learn from all the local people you will meet during
your holiday.
The trip consists of hiking every day, combined with story telling and visits to interesting places. A swim in geothermaly heated pools is almost a must and there are some more suprises for you during the trip. Your travel from Reykjavík to Akureyri will be through breathtaking highlands including stop at Þingvellir (the oldest parliament in the world), the famous Geysir, and at Gullfoss (a powerful and breathtaking waterfall) and last but not least a stop at hot springs in the highlands.
