• A Responsible Peek into Nepal

This was the first experience we designed to Nepal! NOPE, not a ”traditional trekking”, but a trip based on transparency and teaching others good practice in tourism.

The experience starts with a nice welcome dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant. Get to know the local food, eat well before the proper learning starts! Sit down with our local experts, who have been working in the field of responsible tourism for almost fifteen years. Learn from their experience and efforts and discuss how it functions on ground.

Walk the back alleys and get a real feeling of Kathmandu through our heritage trail. Compare notes with walks in the “tourist area” of Thamel. Pro´s and con´s. Continue on to the UNESCO-listed old town Bhaktapur. Sip on a local coffee before dawn and observe the town wake up for another day. Learn about efforts made after the earthquake in 2015. Meet the Wood Carvers, the “King of Yoghurt” and the paper factory.

Go on a soft adventure – 2 to 4 days hike on a less travelled route – to learn about the environment, porters and guides issues, homestays and working with communities. In Chitwan National Park discuss with local experts the different tourism initiatives and how it works together with conservation, good and bad.

And guess what? Well back in Kathmandu, there will still be time for some responsible shopping – fair trade learning – before you head home!

Location: Kathmandu and Bhaktapur, soft trek in Chepang Hill Trail and the National Park of Chitwan. Nepal.
Best time to travel: From October to May. However, you are welcome other times of the year as well!
Recommended stay: Between 12– 14 days.

This was the first trip the head honchos at ETP developed together? An open and transparent educational journey to share experiences and expertise on responsible travel as it is practiced on ground!
